So it’s been over a week since I’ve posted. And that’s really really not good. I can’t believe how busy I am already- with homework, running, work, and college applications, I barely have time to bake and even less time to post 😦 Especially this week will be bad. I’m working tomorrow and Thursday from 3:30-6:45 and then I have a college essay writing course from 7:30-8:30, and the same thing next week. Plus I tutor and run a club and take 5 APs and ahhhh! How to balance everything will take some time to figure out.
Yep, I have a job now!! I work at Culinary Heights, which is a little bakery/catering place in town. It’s really cool, because I get to witness all of the business behind running a bakery-type store, but also a bit difficult, because I need to memorize all of the prices of everything there. But I’ll learn. It’s such a great experience and I’m so excited to be there!
Also, my 10K was Sunday!!! More on that in an upcoming post, but it was so fulfilling. I recommend running a race to anyone who has even an inkling of interest. I couldn’t run for more than about two miles at a time when I started training two months ago, but I worked my way up to 6.2 and it felt absolutely amazing finishing!!
Posts will be much more sporadic during the school year, and I’m sorry for that 😦 But I do have a few recipes I’m planning on sharing very soon, and we’ll see how it goes!
Bagels. A major, major obsession of almost everyone I know- and for good reason. They’re delicious. But so bad for you! When I eat a bagel, I choose a whole wheat or whole grain (but sometimes everything, because it’s yummy), … Continue reading →
Remember my Blueberry and Cream Cookies from Milk Bar? The gigantic, pillowy, highly addictive treats I ate half of on my own? Yeah. I just cannot get enough of Milk Bar-style cookies, so they’re a regular event in my kitchen. … Continue reading →
So I had a lot of thoughts for my seventeenth birthday cake, a few of which I discussed in my last post. A few things I wanted to incorporate were graham cracker crust, liquid cheesecake, and charred marshmallows from Momofuku Milk … Continue reading →
Hello all! I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
Today was my first day of senior year of high school, so things may get a little hectic around here. As always, I’ll try my best to post regularly-about every three days- and stay on top of the blogging world. Good luck to all my fellow students!!
ALSO, yesterday was my seventeenth birthday!! I can finally see a rated R movie on my own!!!! Sadly, I can’t drive yet, but my road test’s in a couple of weeks (wish me luck!). On my birthday, I worked for eight hours at the town pool (which was fine because two of my friends also worked there), ran, went out to dinner, and then came back to the pool for a little after-hours swim with the rest of the staff. It was a really fun day, even though I had to worry about waking up early today for school.
As for my birthday cake, I haven’t made it yet! My dinner with friends is tomorrow night, so I’m narrowing down my choices. Here are some cakes that have caught my eye:
Have you ever tried quinoa? Quinoa is a super seed that looks similar to rice but tastes completely different. In one cup cooked with water, there are about 40 grams of carbs, 8 grams of protein, 3.5 grams of fat … Continue reading →
Sometimes, when in training, a person has days where she really needs some ice cream. For me, that would be everyday. But ice cream everyday is not a good idea, especially when trying to stay in shape. So, the Internet has given us … Continue reading →
When I visited Momofuku Milk Bar at the end of June, I got a whole goodie bag full of cookies, but sadly, blueberry & cream was not one of them! This was one of the cookies I helped make, though, … Continue reading →
Can you tell I don’t like wasting things? I’ve written six posts about using leftovers from one recipe as a base for another- Pancake Oatmeal, Stout and Cream(er) Cheese Brownies, Oreo Peanut Butter Cake Pops, Cheesecake-Stuffed Snickerdoodles, Leftover Frosting Cookies, and Pie … Continue reading →
When I tell people I’m a vegetarian, the most common question they ask is, “What do you eat?” And usually I fumble around and mumble a little because I don’t really pay attention to my dinners anymore and I don’t … Continue reading →
